Medicine and Psychiatry - Integration at the Bedside
Friday, October 2nd – Saturday October 3rd, 2009.

Rush University,
Armour Academic Center,
Chicago, IL.

Poster Session:
Posters will be sought in 2 categories:

1. Combined Residencies: Each residency will be invited to submit a poster describing their residency, as well as an innovation that they are doing- either research, educational or clinical. The intent is two-fold: to introduce medical students to the various programs; to share innovative ideas between the residents and faculty of different programs.

2. Scientific Posters: Original research or case reports may be presented in poster format. Original abstracts that either have or have not been presented at other meetings will be considered. Presentation of original work at the chapter meeting may, however, jeopardize presentation before another society. Abstracts are eligible if they have been published; however, abstracts based upon full papers that have been published are not eligible.

Vignette Competition:
The rules of the vignette competition are as follows:
1. Abstracts are invited for the vignette competition. The abstracts will be reviewed by 2 independent reviewers and up to 10 vignettes will be chosen for presentation.

2. Vignette submissions will be limited to residents of combined residencies (Internal Medicine//Psychiatry or Family Medicine/Psychiatry).

3. Time Limit 10 minutes per presenter
a. If the presenter so chooses, a warning will be given when 2 minutes are remaining and again when 30 seconds are remaining.

4. Questions will be allowed, but limited to 2 per vignette

5. Vignettes will be judged on the following criteria:
a. Relevance to Clinical Practice
b. Quality of discussion
c. Use of evidence based methodology
d. Degree of overlap between medicine and psychiatry (“Med-Psych-ness”),
e. Quality of Audio visual materials
f. Quality of Verbal presentation
g. Adherence to time limit.

6. A prize will be awarded for the first place vignette
